5/4/02 Opening Night at Marion Center Speedway, didn't go too well. Both of the cars had new motors, and most of the night was spent getting used to the added power, plus, there was an unusually high amount of cars. In the heat race, both cars were ill handling, meaning dismal finishes. In the consolation race, both drivers opted for the rear, but it was a bad decision for one of them.

Tim Glacken battled a loose condition throughout the consy, and that resulted in spinning out twice. One of these spins caused Tim to be the first one to take out the new, smaller tires in Marion Center's infield.

Philip Glacken battled a tight, but raceable condition throughout the consy. He started 17th and slowly worked his way through the pack until he got to the 5th and final transfer position. The position was held throughout the race, and Philip was unchallenged by anyone as of yet. He was quite a bit faster than both the cars ahead of him, but was content where he was. Then on a restart, one car went around him early, and took 3 cars with him. That move probably wasn't allowed, but was uncaught by the marion center officials. Within the last 4 laps, 3 of the positions were made up, causing Philip to be one position out of the final transfer spot into the feature race.
